Emsi

Streamlining Higher Education with Data Analytics

Emsi is a B2B SaaS company that provides labor market data and analytics to institutions, organizations, and communities to help them thrive.

As a Digital Marketing Intern at Emsi, I was entrusted with a variety of responsibilities and gained extensive marketing experience and valuable industry knowledge.

How I Did It:

My primary focus at Emsi was crafting compelling articles to generate interest in Emsi's software offerings among target personas, which was mainly executives at higher education institutions. Since I joined the company shortly after COVID-19 started changing society, many of the pieces I crafted emphasized how the data Emsi collects can help light the way for universities to adapt in the swiftly changing economic landscape.

I performed data analysis and penned an article on how Logistics has seen a large boon with the COVID-19 crisis and that higher education institutions in certain areas could benefit greatly from adjusting their degree offerings to meet the new demand. The article is scheduled to be published on the Emsi blog in December of 2020: How Logistics is Changing the Competitive Landscape of America.

I performed a case study with McClellan College in Waco, Texas regarding how Emsi's software and data helped them nail down their grant application after the expansion of The Perkins Act in 2018. The article is scheduled to be published on the Emsi blog in January of 2021: McClellan College Case Study.

After performing extensive data analysis on MFA programs, I was given the go-ahead to craft an article that examines the data I collected and argues whether or not a student that pursues an MFA is likely to see a return on their investment. The article is scheduled to be published on the Emsi blog in Q1 2021: Will Getting Your MFA Put You On The Path To Success?

In addition to writing content for Emsi, I spent a good deal of time crafting newsletters and monitoring the performance of that part of the email marketing campaign in HubSpot. I handled the copy and the graphic design of the newsletters and they tended to perform well, with a low unsubscribe and bounce rate.

In addition to my main responsibilities, I also updated many old blog posts using Yoast SEO and significantly increased their ranking on Google, and leveraged my immense photography experience to provide high-quality imagery for Emsi to use on their website and LinkedIn.

The Results:

Through my internship at Emsi, I gained valuable industry experience and learned a great deal about modern digital marketing at SaaS companies. I got hands-on experience in tools like HubSpot, WordPress, and Sprout Social.

I had a wonderful time working with Emsi, and I can't wait to bring everything I've learned to my next adventure.
